A CITY ALIVE WITH NEW MUSIC AND BREAK DANCING.
Developed with Emmy award-winning producer Matt Hoverman
Linn’s storytelling is illustrative and expressive. He is genuine, witty, and full of love—especially for Prince.” – Jaycie Buben, All About Solo
About the Show:
In Adam Linn’s award-winning solo show Sped Kid, we follow twelve-year-old Adam as his failing vision forces him to leave an all-white Catholic school and climb aboard a special education short bus for the long ride across town to an inner-city public school. Cheer in triumph when Adam and his new friends overcome their challenges through their shared love of music and breakdancing. Be prepared to laugh, cry, and be inspired, as Adam’s in your face style of storytelling grabs you by the throat in the opening scene and refuses to let go until the very end. Sped Kid is masterfully directed by the veteran New York director Padraic Lillis. Padraic was awarded Best Director at the United Solo Fest, the world’s biggest solo theater festival, for his directing of Sped Kid and Adina Taubman’s The Road Back.
Adam Linn (writer/performer) Adam Linn’s accomplishments in the world of writing and performance have earned him well-deserved recognition. His one-man show, Sped Kid, received the Best Autobiographical Show award at the United Solo Fest in Spring 2024. Through this poignant production, Linn delves into his personal experiences of growing up and losing his sight in Boston during the 1980s. Linn’s talent extends beyond the stage and into the realm of film as well. His debut project, Smell the Light, was honored with the Best Experimental Short award at the prestigious Woods Hole Film Festival. His autobiographical story, Dinner with Wonder Woman, which he performed live at Lincoln Center and has since amassed over one million downloads online, secured a development deal with Warner Brothers. Adam has also written and performed the pieces, Blind Ninja, and Showing up on National Public radio. Some of his acting credits include: My Blind Brother, directed by Sophie Goodhart, Stay, directed by Marc Forster, and Sex and the City. As a consultant shaping the depiction of blind characters in major films, he has worked with the actors Bob Hoskins, Ewan McGregor, and Ryan Gosling. Adam received his BA from Harvard, and studied writing at the Tisch school at NYU. He grew up in Dorchester, MA, and no matter where he finds himself living never forgets his Boston roots.
